Slovakia is a small country in the heart of Europe, with amazing mountains, natural sceneries, historical towns, castles and natural sights. Slovakia, due to its rich traditions, customs and culture, has a remarkable record of artistic cultural heritage. It is a place were fine wines and culinary specialties full of surprising flavours can be tasted.
Moreover, there is another great thing in Slovakia. It is a traditional Slovak musical instrument "Fuyara".
"Fuyara is very long (up to 1.8m) flute with three finger holes and attached windpipe. It's absolutely unique hand-made overtone fipple flute that can't be found anywhere else but in Slovakia. Fuyara was included by UNESCO in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
Come and learn more about this little country as well as witness the unique presentation talk and Fuyara performance by Matej Kolenic.
Matej is a well-known Fuyara player from Slovakia. Graduated the university of music in Ireland, majored ethnic music in graduate school. After moving to Japan, Matej has been organising various music concerts and performing with all kinds of musicians."
